Francois Rivoire - (French, 1842 - 1919)

Biography:
François Rivoire was born in Lyon in 1842. A pupil of Regnier, Rivoire made his debut at the Salon of 1866 and in the same year was made a Societaire des Artistes Français.
 
In 1883, 1886, 1889 and 1900 Rivoire was awarded prizes for his work and in 1906 was made a Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur.
 
Rivoire painted paintings of flowers especially roses in watercolour, gouache and pastel.
