Stotz (19)19. The painting is in good condition with no defects or any other imperfections that detracts when viewing. Fritz Stotz, best known for his figurative and still life paintings, was an Impressionist painter. Given Stotz's untimely and premature death at the age of 36, the quantity of his artworks are limited in number and rarely appear on the open market, as most of his paintings are closely held in private collections.
Biography:
Fritz Stotz was born in Dresden, Germany in 1884. A successful artist beginning at a very young age, he became known for his impressionistic portrait, landscape, still life and interior paintings. Stotz was a student of Carl Bantzer and Gotthardt Kuehl at the Dresden Art Academy. In 1909, at the early age of 25, Stotz was awarded the Small Golden Medal, an achievement that he repeated in 1911. Fritz Stotz died in Dresden in 1920 at the age of 36.
