This Henri Robert Bresil oil on canvas measures 28”x22” or in the original wood frame dimensions of 30" x 24" of a jungle scene with flamingos along a stream, signed lower left HR Bresil.  Bresil was most recognized for his lush green jungle landscapes that featured pink flamingos, egrets, waterfalls, flowing streams or serene pools of water.  This beautiful painting by Henri Robert Bresil is in excellent condition and is masterfully done.... this is a quintessential example of his work.

 

Biography:

Henri Robert Bresil was born in Gonaives, Haiti in 1952.  He began to paint quite early in life and relocated to Port-au-Prince in 1973 and painted his first works, beginning a career as a world-renowned painter. After receiving the Ispan-Unesco prize in 1981, he exhibited in all the major galleries in Haiti, and abroad in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Japan, France, Italy, and Switzerland.

 

As a landscape painter, Bresil is one of those painters whose work is instantly recognizable for his repetitive use of lush green jungle landscapes that are often populated with pink flamingos with waterfalls, flowing streams or tranquil pools of water. 

 

Bresil is much appreciated by art lovers and collectors throughout the world and his work has been exhibited in Haiti, the US, Puerto Rico, France, Italy and Switzerland and has received recognition from the New York Times, the Miami Herald among other publications.

 

Bresil became quite eccentric as he got older and his brilliant career was cut short by his untimely death tragically in a violent altercation at a restaurant in 1999.
